Manchester City gana y se pone a un punto de Liverpool, que juega hoy

El Manchester City derrotó ayer 1-0 al Brentford en un partido de regularización y trepó al segundo lugar de la tabla de la Premier League, a un punto del líder Liverpool, que hoy enfrentará al Luton Town en un encuentro de adelanto de la 26ª jornada del campeonato del fútbol inglés.

El noruego Erling Haaland, con una arrancada potente y aprovechando el resbalón del zaguero rival Kristoffer Ajer, definió ante la salida del arquero Mark Flekken (min. 71) para darle un vital triunfo a su equipo.

El City venía de un empate 1-1 ante el Chelsea, cotejo en el que Haaland disparó diez veces sin acierto, y, pese a que no completó un gran partido tampoco ante el Brentford, su solitario gol sirvió para evitar el segundo tropiezo consecutivo de los dirigidos por Pep Guardiola

Este duelo, de la 18ª jornada, fue postergado en su momento por la participación del City en el Mundial de Clubes.

* El Liverpool recibirá hoy al Luton Town (16:30, Star+). Los de Jürgen Klopp adelantan su partido de la fecha 26, ya que el próximo domingo definirán la Copa de la Liga inglesa ante Chelsea en el mítico estadio de Wembley (12:00).
